From the shore of the water mouth of the Tanger flowing into the Elbe you can see the fortification of the old city of Tangermünde with a city gate and the Church of St. Stephan.
The harbour of Tangermünde is situated at the place where the Tanger leads into the river Elbe. At the end of the Quai you can see the silo of the harbour. On the right hand side the town fortification is visible. Behind that, the old city of Tangermünde can be found.
From Tangermünde Castle the view over the river Elbe and the Altmark is phantastic. If the weather is great like on this day, it’s a real joy to stand here.
The Kapitelturm is six stories high and is being used as a viewpoint for visitors, who can enjoy a view on Tangermünde, the river Elbe and parts of the Altmark.
To my album Tangermunde I added a picture of the main building of the castle beautifully illuminated at night
